A Time to Mourn

CHARLES DOBBS PHOTOGRAPHY

I love these old town square clocks! I was in Pilot Point, Texas on Monday when I took this photo. As I worked on this photograph tonight trying to find the perfect feeling it deserved, I realized what time the clock said. I had no idea when I took the photo, and actually didn’t even notice until I was almost done with post-production that the clock read 11:02 a.m. What hit me about that time is that was also the time that Margaret, my mother-in-law, passed away just over two weeks ago. Very strange it would be the same time. Maybe just a coincidence, but sometimes these kinds of things really make you ponder in life.

This is an old piece from 2007 using a technique called Painting with Light.

Missing Her

I just made my 24th sale on this photograph. When I took it, did I ever think that it would sell 1 time let alone 24? Nope. Especially, when I shot the short series after work one day while waiting for my wife to finish up also. I have not yet finished this series, in fact, I want to completely re-shoot it from beginning to end. The idea for this just came to me as I waited and shot a few shots with just the chairs at first. They say that good photographs have emotion and I really think this piece of work and the series will have a very powerful emotion that will make people think and wonder about what happened to this couple.
